On hearing about the critical shortage of medical PPE, the residential staff and volunteers at Leighton Park School, have used their skills to produce face shields using their laser cutter located in their Design & Technology Dept.
To cover the production costs (each mask costs approx. £1 each), they set up a GoFundMe page with a fundraising goal of £20,000. Given the overwhelming generosity of donors, their total now exceeds £25,000 and so further donations are now being used to support charities and partner community organisations, eg. pupil referral units who need resources for vulnerable children and Reading neighbourhood food banks.
