Racing To School Returns To Ascot

Racing To School Returns To Ascot...

This week we have been delighted to welcome back Racing to School - the educational charity that delivers free outdoor learning activities for young people.

Classed as an educational event, students from two local primary schools – Winkfield St Mary and Cheapside School - were treated to an interactive behind the scenes tour of the racecourse including the weighing room, parade ring; learning more about the horseracing whilst applying maths - all with the new Covid-19 social distancing measures being observed.

Racing to School works with approximately 250 primary and secondary schools and delivers around 390 events each year – click here to find out more.

Julia Evans, Head Teacher at Winkfield St Mary said:
'Thank you ‘Racing to School’ for a terrific day, just what we all needed at the moment! All the covid-19 safety measures were explained and adhered to and we experienced an imaginative range of activities that brought the world of racing to life and inspired the children enormously. Maths was brought naturally into each and every task, relating it to the real world of racing and life as a jockey and providing great problem solving opportunities. The children were busy and buzzing all day and can’t wait to return to the racecourse!’
