LOCAL SCHOOLS CHRISTMAS POETRY COMPETITION 2022

We are delighted to announce the winners of our Christmas poetry competition which invited local primary and secondary school students to devise a poem consisting of one of these three festive themes:
 
  • When Santa borrowed a racehorse
  • The racehorse who saved Christmas
  • The Ascot snowman race
 
Entries were co-judged by Ryan Moore, world-class Flat jockey, and Chris Cook, senior reporter at the Racing Post.
 
Congratulations to our winners - Ethan Kroonenburg, age 7 from LVS School, Ascot and Henry Hossack, age 14 from Charters School, Sunningdale.
 
Both students have won £200 in Waterstones book vouchers for their respective schools plus £50 in vouchers for themselves which Chris Cook will present to them today.
 
As further recognition, we have asked Ethan and Henry to read out their winning poem on the podium at 12pm before racing. Their winning poems can be read here:
