We are delighted to announce grant funding to the following charities via our Community Fund held with Berkshire Community Foundation:
Just Around the Corner (JAC)
JAC encourage and support thousands of children and young people through their mentoring and development work in schools, outreach work in the community and now also at their 15-acre Activity Centre in Wokingham through their Programmes of Equine Assisted Learning and mentoring streams: Small Animals, Art & Craft, Pottery, Horticulture, Mechanics, Woodworking, Cooking.
Our funding will allow the charity to offer a grant to families who cannot afford to continue extended sessions with their mentoring programme once their young people have engaged.
Headway Thames Valley
This charity support those with acquired brain injury and their families by providing information and deliver community-based rehabilitation to a diverse client group of around 140 people each year through occupational therapy, enablement, cognitive therapies, support groups as well as music, art and sports, helping people to adapt to life after brain injury and regain a degree of independence so that they can live fulfilled lives.
Our funding will enable the charity to continue a pilot Neuro Rehabilitation service that provides specialist person-centred, goal oriented and coordinated neuro rehabilitation programmes, facilitated by qualified, experienced professionals.
Thames Hospice
Our grant will help train 8 experienced healthcare assistants (HCAs) as nursing assistants. The training will enable HCAs to carry out routine nursing tasks as part of the regular personal care that they give to patients. HCAs often have more time than nurses to spend with patients, and many are interested in progressing their careers in palliative care. For the hospice, this is an important project that will allow nurses to spend their time more effectively and will build a more resilient and skilled workforce to support seriously ill patients now and in future.
