On our 18th February raceday, we were delighted to welcome families affiliated to the Box4Kids Charity; a charity founded and funded by Barrie Wells MBE.
Box4Kids invites seriously ill and disabled children to enjoy a sporting or entertainment event in the luxury of an executive box and Ascot Racecourse was delighted to welcome Jake, Matthew and Ellie and their families on the day. The children were treated to a behind the scenes tour of the racecourse, a meet and greet with some of our jockeys plus the honour of judging the Best Turned Out Horse for the especially named 3pm race “The Ascot Racecourse Supports Box4Kids Handicap Hurdle Race”.
The Trust collaborates with over 200 sports clubs, entertainment venues and box holders who kindly donate their boxes. To date, over 14,000 children and their families have enjoyed a Box4Kids experience. The Trust have a network of over 140 hospitals across the UK including Great Ormond Street, Royal Manchester Children’s, Great North Children’s and Alder Hey who nominate children to attend. Getting involved is easy. Whether you’re a business, a club, event venue or an individual, they invite you to donate your box and aim to make it as simple as possible. Just choose an event you’d like to donate your box for and Box4Kids do the rest.
