The Berkshire Community Foundation Vital for Berkshire Coronavirus Fund continues to pull support together from across the county and target it to the small charities and voluntary groups working at the sharp end of the crisis - groups protecting people at risk of domestic violence, supporting young carers (who with schools closed have an additional burden), moving services on-line to support children with additional needs, helping to combat the effects of poverty exacerbated by lockdown and providing essential support for isolated older people.
In the three months to the end of June 2020 the Vital for Berkshire Coronavirus Fund supported 197 projects with grants totalling £1m. Through operating a weekly programme of receiving applications and making awards, the Foundation processed in three months what they would normally expect to do in a year.
