Ascot Racecourse Supports Volunteering Week

During the week commencing 12-16 September 2022, 83 employees from Ascot Racecourse and 1711 ( the racecourse’s catering arm) took part in a company-wide volunteers’ week that saw teams help 12 local charities that are already supported by the “Ascot Racecourse Supports” charity and community programme.  The activities included:
Age Concern, Bracknell: garden tidy and outdoor painting for day centre attendees to enjoy
Aik Saath – Together as One:  regenerating their outside area and creating veg plots for the charity’s young carers to manage
Apollo Youth Club: repainting of children’s outdoor play area
The Baby Bank: sorting donations of clothing & toys for families in need
Berkshire Womens Aid: gardening help at a refuge home
Jealott’s Hill Community Landshare: preparing a vegetable plot for a new community group to utilise
Just Around the Corner: digging up a disused paddock to assist the charity’s equine assisted therapy programmes for children
Sebastian’s Action Trust: general outdoor gardening work at the charity’s “Woodlands” base in Crowthorne
Slough Foodbank: sorting and collating food donations for distribution
Thames Hospice: help with sorting donations at the charity’s distribution centre in Maidenhead
Windsor & Ascot Carriage Driving for the Disabled: general clean-up and tidy of some hard-core equine areas
Windsor Homeless Project: helping with lunch service at a drop-in session for the homeless at Holy Trinity Church, Windsor
It was fantastic week which saw some real transformations showing that teamwork really does make the dream work!
Our teams at work!

“Wow!  I don't think I've ever seen a transformation quite like it.  I think it's fair to say people were feeling quite low here and your team has lifted everyone - it means so much to us.”
Rob Deeks, Manger, Aiik Saath – Together as One.

With thanks to our charity partners, Berkshire Community Foundation, who also helped bring the work together and to our hard-working employees who in total clocked up 480 volunteer hours.
