Australia’s champion sprinter Chautauqua has his eyes set on Royal Ascot next summer.
The five-time Group 1 winner, who was last seen beating the likes of Gold-Fun and Mongolian Saturday at Sha Tin in May, will not be forced into too much travelling in 2016 to keep himself fresh for the Australian autumn.
Following a chance to win a third TJ Smith Stakes at Randwick early next year, Royal Ascot will be the aim after missing the 2015 meeting.
"We want to see the horse be given every opportunity to continue down the path he's going,” owner Rupert Legh said.
“That path is to run in Hong Kong in December and ultimately go to (Royal) Ascot.”
Trips to Moonee Valley in September and October for Group 1 clashes are on the agenda with less travelling and quarantine time disrupting the season.
The number of international runners at Royal Ascot continues to rise and Chautauqua is set to follow in the footsetps of former Australian sprint sensation Black Caviar who came to Royal Ascot and left with the the ultimate prize.
