A quintessentially British tradition, afternoon tea is one of the best-loved offerings served all year round at Ascot Racecourse. This year’s Festival of Food & Wine Racing Weekend – Thursday 7thto Sunday 10thSeptember with racing on Friday and Saturday – is set to be a glorious weekend of feasting, drinking and racing with Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown headlining the event alongside two-Michelin star chef Raymond Blanc OBE on Saturday 9thSeptember.
Making the event line-up even sweeter, celebrated baker Candice Brown has designed a recipe for her mini orange blossom and rhubarb Victoria sponges with meringue kisses, to be served as part of Ascot’s afternoon tea menu.
To be served in the Parade Ring Restaurant on Saturday, the afternoon tea will be complemented by a four-course à la carte lunch collectively designed by chefs Raymond Blanc OBE, Phil Howard, James Tanner and Ascot’s Head Chef Ben Dutson.
Priced at £279+VAT per person, guests will enjoy King Edward VII Enclosure admission and car parking label, a private table in the stylish restaurant for the day, a Champagne reception on arrival, four-course lunch, afternoon tea and a selection of beers, spirits and soft drinks throughout the day.
As well as live chef demonstrations, more than 140 stallholders will be showcasing scrumptious produce from across Britain and beyond. Top chefs, including two-Michelin star holder Raymond Blanc OBE, will be hosting demonstrations in the Cooking Theatre with barbecue masterclasses and communal eating at The Social Kitchen available each day.
The Festival of Food & Wine takes place from Thursday 7thto Sunday 10thSeptember with Flat racing on Friday 8thand Saturday 9thSeptember. Entry starts from £18 per person to include access to both the festival and racing. Accompanied children under 18 years of age gain free entry at all Ascot race meetings.
