A Celebration of National Racehorse Week: 9-17th September

Launched in 2021, National Racehorse Week (NRW) is the nationwide annual celebration of the racehorse and a chance to see first-hand the love, care and attention that goes into looking after them.
Racing training yards, studs and aftercare centres up and down the country open up their doors during the week to showcase the fantastic lives that these magnificent animals lead.
To celebrate the week, on Saturday, 9th September, we held a special NRW exhibition so that racegoers could learn more about the life of a racehorse from foal to retirement whilst also having a special appearance from our Equine Ambassador, Side Glance who comes to us via the Retraining of Racehorses “Horses for Courses” initiative which links former racehorses to racecourses in order to showcase the care given and opportunities open to former racehorses once their racing days come to an end.
During the week, we also took Side Glance out into the local community, meeting students from South Ascot Village School and residents at Signature Ascot Care Home.
