
The progressive Lightning Strike recorded the third win of his career when justifying 9/4 favouritism in the opening John Guest Brown Jack Stakes to score under Joe Fanning.

Even though hes by Danehill Dancer, hes a very stoutly German-bred horse and he will stay all day, said Mills. Its still early days with him and hes just a pup at the moment. We had him sold as a Melbourne Cup horse, the deal was done but they then cancelled it because he wouldnt get in the handicap. Im sure the deal will be back on now and we could even take him out there ourselves. But I hope he could come back here for the Cup next year.
