Cruzspiel justified his connections' decision to move the horse from John Oxx in Ireland to James Fanshawe's Newmarket stable when landing the longest Flat race in the calendar, the 2m 6f Queen Alexandra Stakes, with a front-running effort under Johnny Murtagh.
"John Oxx did what a lot of trainers wouldn't do and told us we'd get the best out of this horse by moving him and sending him to the UK," said owner Pat Garvey.
"John advised us to send him to James Fanshawe because he likes good, firm ground and there are only a limited number of staying races in Ireland and every time he went for one it came up soft.
"Obviously it is unknown territory running over this trip but we expected him to staying as he was finishing when coming third in the Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot so we knew he'd get further."
